Be a General, Not a Soldier: Make 2025 a High-Impact Year

Pssst. C'mere. Let’s get a little personal.

How many years have you started off fired up, busy, and determined to make it your best year yet—but then felt too busy fighting fires to actually map out a clear vision for where you were going or the smaller steps you needed to get there?

If that hits close to home, you’re not alone. I used to be there too, many more times than I want to admit. Yeah, it was a lot.

It's all too easy to slip into this pattern.

We're lawyers and warriors, and we want to serve our clients, our colleagues, and justice. So we fight the battle in front of us instead of planning out the war.

We fall into the trap of being soldiers, instead of generals.

We kick off the year busy, determined, and motivated. But without a game plan for our year or our practice, we get swept up in the chaos of client demands, endless emails, and late nights rewriting motions.

We're not lazy or unfocused—we just didn’t pause to set our priorities.

Instead of making intentional progress toward our biggest and most meaningful goals, we get caught up in being busy rather than effective.

It's such a common phenomenon.

But if you're like me, you don't want to be common.

You want to be an elite lawyer--and the best version of yourself you know you can be.

You want to start out your year motivated and with the plan and the toolset to stay committed through the entire year to achieving the goals that matter most to you, without driving yourself mad.

I've got you.

In the latest episode of 🎧 The Legal Athlete Podcast, I've shared some of the most effective (and fun) high-performance tools I've learned to help you be the commanding, victorious general of your year through your 2025 planning, and action board.

In “Build Your 2025 Game Plan: The Art (and Craft) of Success”

You’ll learn how to:

✅ Write a mission statement to anchor your focus.

✅ Create a vision board--actually an action board--like a pro athlete to stay clear on your goals.

✅ Break down big aspirations into daily, manageable actions.

This is your chance to take control, master your mental game, and make meaningful progress on what matters most to you—without the overwhelm.

And if you're thinking this is some deja vu--this is the same episode from last Friday--you're absolutely right.

I've spent this week out in the 🌵 desert and the mountains 🏜️, hiking and camping with good friends, and taking the time to rest, reset, and make my own 2025 game plan for my high-impact year while free from wifi and cell service.

Meaning: no new podcast this week. Just a bonus chance for you to listen in, play along, and plan your own best year yet!

Like I said last week (and Bruce Lee said before me): “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.” So take some time here at the dawn of the New Year to go slow and get smooth with your big plans.

✨ 🎯 Let’s make 2025 our most intentional and successful year yet! 🛠️✨
